Honor just introduced an ultra-affordable smartphone called Honor Play 8 today in China. The smartphone, in fact, is a rebranding of the Honor 8S, released in April in Russia. The company launched it in the domestic market together with D.Phone. The smartphone can be purchased in all major retail chains in China, such as Suning, Vmall and JD.
Honor Play 8 – Specifications and Features
The Honor Play 8 is equipped with a 5.71-inch HD + LCD with a 19: 9 aspect ratio. There is a water cutout at the top of the screen, and a thick frame on three sides. The device is powered by the Helio A22 chipset and is available with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. This storage can be further expanded to 512 GB with a microSD card.
The rear 13-megapixel camera has an f / 1.8 aperture and supports HDR. In this case, the front camera is a 5-megapixel unit with an aperture of f / 2.2. The Honor Play 8 skips the fingerprint sensor, but uses the front camera to unlock the face.
The phone runs on a 3,020 mAh battery and runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS configured on EMUI 9.0. It has two dedicated SIM slots with two 4G. Unfortunately, the device is not enough for fast charging. But it is understandable for its price. The plastic back of the Honor Play 8 has an anti-slip faux leather cover.
Honor Play 8 – Price and availability
Honor Play 8 can be bought in China at a very competitive price of 599 yuan (~ $ 120). It is available in two color options, namely black and blue. Honor 8S in Russia and as Huawei Y5 (2019) in Europe. The same phone is sold as Honor 8S in Russia and as Huawei Y5 (2019) in Europe.
