Rostelecom in tandem with the rescue service of the city of Saratov is testing the Russian operating system Aurora. Rescuers were handed 55 smartphones based on the domestic OS so that they shared their opinions on the modernization of mobile applications that help in the work of emergency services.
A study of domestic OS was conducted during the world championship in fire and rescue sports, in which representatives of 20 countries took part. The following Aurora functions were tested: remote administration of mobile devices connected to a single network, as well as a walkie-talkie mode for simultaneously transmitting a message to all members of the group.
Allegedly, Aurora is able to tailor applications to the requirements of a particular customer. At the moment, software solutions for emergency response services, logistics, transport, energy companies and banks are being tested.
Aurora was created on the basis of Sailfish OS, developed by the Finnish company Jolla. Sailfish Mobile OS RUS became the first mobile OS in the registry of domestic software, and successfully passed the certification of the FSB.
