By the Geekbench benchmarking software an APU has been seen, the AMD Ryzen 5 3550U, that when copying the nomenclature of Intel, obviously we are facing a focused portable chip at low consumption, and its TDP of 15W confirms it, less than half of the 35W of the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H, being the most curious of all that consumes less than half but maintains the same number of cores at the same speed but includes even more powerful integrated graphics.
The AMD Ryzen 5 3550U makes use of 4 cores and 8 threads AMD processing Zen + @ 12nm at a Base / Turbo frequency of 2.10 / 3.69 GHz (vs. 2.10 / 3.70 GHz of the Ryzen 5 3550H) with graphics AMD Radeon Vega 9 with nothing less than 576 Stream Processors @ 1300 MHz (vs Vega 8 with 512 SP @ 1.20 GHz). In terms of TDP, the comments are very modest: 15W (vs 35W).
In terms of performance, at the CPU level, there are no differences, but at the graphic level there is a big difference, and that is that Radeon Vega 9 yield 10.85 percent more performance regarding the Vega 8. Obviously, this improvement of GPU does not arrive at random, and that AMD prepares the ground for the new portable CPUs Intel Ice Lake-U @ 10nm, where the great performance improvement is in its integrated graphics.
