We have already spoken on several occasions about Threadripper 3000 leaks, and now thanks to an AMD registration in USB-IF, information about the chipsets that will support these CPUs was leaked: TRX40, TRX80 and WRX80.
TRX40 will be the direct replacement for X399, completely renewing I / O with USB3.2, Wi-Fi 6, and of course PCI-E 4.0, among other technologies. Like X399 motherboards based on this chipset will support Quad-Channel memories.
Then there is TRX80, which according to rumors would support Octa-Channel and even more I / O volume. There could also be 48-core and 64-core CPUs for this chipset, the same will happen with WRX80, which will be very similar, although with larger motherboards, similar to those we saw with the Intel C621 chipset.
In addition, Videocardz confirmed the existence of two TRX40 motherboards: Asus Prime TRX40-PRO and ROG STRIX TRX40-E GAMING.
These motherboards should be launched in October if the rumors are true. Thanks to this, we should soon have more news.
What do you think about the names of the new AMD chipsets for TR4?
