Apple announced the release dates of the updated operating systems iOS 13, macOS Catalina, watchOS 6 and iPadOS, the announcement of which took place at the June WWDC 2019 exhibition.
iOS 13 will be available with September 19th. It can be installed on all devices, starting with iPhone 6s / SE and above, as well as a multimedia player iPod Touch 7 generation. IOS version 13.1 will be released September 30th.
iOS 13 includes many innovations and improvements. The main feature of the OS was its performance. iOS 13 accelerates Face ID scanning by 30%, launching applications by 2 times, and the volume of applications in the App Store decreased by 60%.
Other innovations include the Dark Mode, advanced photo and video editing functions, and swipe text input in the iOS 13 keyboard. Update to watchOS 6 also starts September 19th for smart watches Apple Watch all versions.
Of the innovations, it is worth noting the Indepented Apps, the own App Store, standard applications for audio books, a voice recorder, a calculator and a calendar for menstrual cycles, as well as new dials.
iPadOS debuts simultaneously with iOS 13.1 – i.e. September 30th. Owners of tablets iPad Air 2 and newer models will be able to take advantage of the new operating system.
Thanks to iPadOS, iPad tablets will become a complete replacement for computers and get around the restrictions imposed by mobile iOS. Among the innovations, it is worth noting the dark mode, multi-window mode for applications, a new file system and a new standard for gestures for canceling text input. Safari on iPad with iPadOS will work by default in desktop mode.
macOS 10.15 Catalina
macOS Catalina will be available in October. More detailed dates Apple did not report.
macOS 10.15 Catalina includes the following updates:
- replacement for iTunes;
- a feature that allows you to use your iPad as an optional wireless monitor for your Mac;
- improved security and search functions;
- Screen Time function
- Advanced Augmented Reality (AR).
