After several rumors first mentioning that the new generation Xbox console Scarlett would be more powerful than the PlayStation 5. And later, new rumors mentioning otherwise… Behold, new information seems to suggest that the new Xbox is not even for jokes!
After all, Microsoft's Project Scarlett will feature an AMD SoC consisting of a Zen 2 CPU and a Navi GPU with real-time Ray-Tracing support. We are talking about a 4x chip more powerful than the one that already equips the already interesting Xbox One X, reaching a staggering 24 TFLOPs of computing power.
But what is all this performance worth? Apparently, a lot! Since Microsoft intends to achieve the much desired 4K 60FPS in all games released for its Scarlett Xbox!
All of this, according to the latest Xbox Boss interview (Phill Spencer).
“In my opinion, the area that should be our focus is really the framerate and gameplay of our games.
We have to make sure that the loading time is super fast, but also that the SPF is high. Gamers love the 60 frames per second, so achieving this while reaching 4K resolution is a dream come true. ”
Can 4K 60FPS be achieved in all games with new Xbox hardware? Perhaps…
If you don't know, Forza 7 already runs 4K 60FPS on Xbox One X. Using 'only' 70% of the console's GPU computing power! A component that is actually 4x weaker than what we might find on Scarlett.
In short, Microsoft's many First Party studios have as their main goal this famous brand. Something that even in the PC world, is not easy to achieve.
