During the international balloon festival in Bristol, one of the main attractions was a giant balloon with the head of Darth Vader, the mythical Star Wars villain. There are more than 100 balloons that participate annually in the festival in August.
Importantly, the Darth Vader balloon flying over Bristol has important significance. David Prowse, actor who wore the skin of Darth Vader, is a native of this city. The festival collected about $ 6,300 in donations to bring the balloon to the city.
The Star Wars Saga Remains Relevant in Culture
The first Star Wars movie came out in 1977, 42 years ago, beginning a cultural phenomenon perhaps matched by the Harry Potter franchise. Its vast universe filled with folklore and characters is perfect for any fantasy fan.
In recent years the saga has been resurrected in the cinema with new films featuring new characters including villain Kylo Ren. In December we will have another movie of the newly started trilogy.
Game of Thrones products David Benioff and D.B Weiss have already joined the 'party' and are producing the upcoming Star Wars movies coming out in 2022, 2024 and 2026 respectively.
