Qualcomm is preparing to release the Snapdragon 865 mobile processor, as well as the world's first 5-nm chipset, Snapdragon 875. Several details have been added about the upcoming innovations.
According to the Chinese edition of Sina, the Snapdragon 875 will be developed in collaboration with TSMC. It is already known that new CPUs manufactured using the 5-nanometer process technology will consume 20% less energy than the current 7-nm models.
According to previous leaks, Samsung and TSMC will be ready for mass production of 5nm chips in 2021. One of the first to test the new process technology in their gadgets will be the company Apple with mobile processor A14.
As for the upcoming Snapdragon 865, firstly, it is reported to be released in two versions, codenamed “Kona” and “Huracan”, and will support LPDDR5x and UFS 3.0 memory types. One version of the Snapdragon 865 will have a built-in 5G modem, and the other will only support LTE networks.
Earlier in the Geekbench test base, a platform was codenamed Kona, which scored 4160 and 12 946 points in single-core and multi-core testing, respectively. It is expected that the official debut of the Snapdragon 865 will be held in December this year.
