Having to be late when you call a business is annoying, and having to listen to music that is barely known for a long time while waiting for humans to be available only makes it worse. Google has been teasing that the next generation of Wizards will be coming to Pixel devices in the future, and now we know one more trick it could have: taking charge of call hold.
A source tells 9to5Google that the software features are under development for Pixel 4, which will allow Google Assistant to listen to the waiting call and notify you when finished. In other words, you will be able to perform other tasks on your cell phone without listening to the music on hold, and you will receive a kind of warning when the Assistant recognizes that there is a human on the phone.
The source said the feature (supposedly called 'Hold my Phone') is still in early development, and is likely to arrive in a post-launch update for Pixel 4. I hope this eventually reaches other devices, such as Call Screen (slow ), but it is still too early to say.
