Grand Theft Auto 6 – Is Rockstar taking too long? – If you don't know, GTA V was released in 2013, ie… More than 6 years ago! So many fans are counting the months, weeks and maybe even days to hear about the upcoming saga game, the much anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA VI).
Especially after the release of Red Dead Redemption II, which showed all the quality that the studio staff has by creating an interesting narrative and of course developing a simply brutal graphics engine.
Which brings us to the question that is on the minds of many fans… Is Rockstar Games taking too long to release GTA VI?
So, as I mentioned above, it's been 6 years since the last game of the saga was released. Interestingly enough, the biggest break ever between GTA game releases.
Just take a look at the release dates:
- GTA 1 / GTA 2 / GTA 3: 1997/1999/2001
- Vice City: 2002
- San Andreas: 2004
- GTA 4: 2008
- GTA 5: 2013
That is, so many years have passed, and unfortunately we do not even know when the next game will be released. Since there was no announcement to that effect… That is, we may still have to wait 1/2 or even more years.
After all, the first GTA IV trailer came out in March 2007, with the game coming to market in April 2008. Similarly, the first GTA V trailer came out in 2011, with the game coming out in 2013.
So it's safe to say that if by chance the first GTA VI trailer was released today, or tomorrow. (Which unfortunately will not happen…) The game would only hit the shelves in 2021!
Despite its 6 years in the market, GTA V remains a bestseller!
We are talking about a game, which almost always marks presence in the top 10 best selling games, from the most varied platforms. Incidentally, GTA V is the most lucrative game ever in the industry.
Therefore, the game continues to be a real goldmine for Rockstar, and of course, the studio is in no hurry to launch a new GTA.
Still, eventually Rockstar will have to release GTA 6, and truth be told… Rockstar loves to release end-of-game games from a console generation!
By launching a new game at the end of a console generation, Rockstar can simply touch the title and re-launch it later for the new generation. This way you can go into the pocket of 2x players instead of just one.
And if we think about it, with the arrival of the new generation, it is very likely that the current GTA V players will abandon the game to see what the future holds… And this way, the cash cow for Rockstar ends.
That said, if Rockstar wants to enjoy this transition, now is the time to announce a new title! However, there may be a problem…
There is a problem with the staff responsible for the Grand Theft Auto saga!
Although GTA V is a real success, something very strange happened after its release. If you don't know, between the release of GTA 3 and the release of GTA V, the major developer of the titles was Leslie Benzies.
However, sometime after the release of the last GTA, Rockstar almost 'forced' Benzies to take a year off (2014-2015). So far so good… The problem was when dev tried to return to the studio! Since it was unable to do so. What is clear has resulted in a court case against Rockstar, which is not yet settled in 2019.
A situation that could undoubtedly mean a stumbling block in what is the development of a new Grand Theft Auto. Obviously there is a lot of talent in the studio, just look at Red Dead Redemption… But when a saga is taken over by a person, and out of nowhere it disappears, things are probably not going well at an early stage.
In short, although in the eyes of the players it seems that Rockstar is taking too long.
The truth is that the studio does not need to launch a new game due to the continued success of GTA V. In addition, it is also taking this time to resolve internal affairs, and most likely also waiting for the next generation of consoles to be announced. .
