HBO has revealed the official launch date for its Watchmen series: the show will arrive on October 20. The first full trailer for the long-awaited Damon Lindelof series drops in July, see above.
The miniseries won't be very close to Alan Moore's original 1986 novel, and instead will run as a kind of sequel. As defined by HBO, Watchmen "is in an alternate story where 'superheroes' are treated as villains," and promised to bring "nostalgia for groundbreaking graphic novels of the same name when they try to break new ground."
Regina King played a major role on the show, which also starred Jeremy Irons as Ozymandias, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, and Jean Smart. The new dark trailer is tempting to make Dr. Manhattan part of the story. It also shows Silk Specter Laurie as an FBI agent and briefly shows headlines that record Ozymandias death.
