Before yesterday we brought you news that affected many users: CamScanner was infected with a Trojan inside and was immediately removed from Google Play. This document scanning application will probably return to the Android application store soon, but for now, there are few who have asked what alternatives there are. Well, we have been testing enough applications of the style and today We bring you three new applications to scan documents without missing CamScanner.
We know that CamScanner had a lot of functions, that's why we wanted to offer you different alternatives according to the level of demand of each one of you. First of all we let you know that It is likely that one of these three applications already have it installed on your phone, because it is part of the Google app suite and comes pre-installed in almost all brands.
Google Drive: the simplest
If you do not need a very professional finish, but just looking for a good cut of the document and some treatments to improve its visibility, Google Drive may be more than enough for you. In order to use the document scanning section, you must touch the “+” symbol in the lower right corner. Once done, Among the suggested options we will see the option to scan. Touching it will open the camera interface, we take the corresponding photo and we will go to the section of the edition.
In these screens, we can redo the adjustment manually by tapping on the crop icon at the top. If we want to change the type of color interpretation, we touch the icon of the palette, although there are not many options. If we want to add another page, to the “+” symbol. In case everything is fine, we can continue to save it, changing the name, save location … In the end we will have our document in a PDF file and without watermarks in a few minutes.
Touchez Scanner: the best alternative
Touchez Scanner is undoubtedly the best substitute for CamScanner, at least for those who do not want to lose the features offered by this app. With the free version we will be left over and does not leave a watermark on our scanned documents. Using it is very simple: touch the camera icon at the bottom (or open a photo of your gallery with the icon on the right), then you will have to take the photo. When you have it done, you will be shown the corner adjustment that the application has detected, but you can change it as you prefer, flip it, etc.
If you have come here, then you can improve the interpretation of the scan by touching the brightness, contrast or some predefined parameters. One of the things we liked a lot is the OCR (text recognition) option, which works in Spanish and you can pass us the text you detect in the document to a digital and editable document. We have not tested it with handwritten text, but we assume that the failure rate will be higher. When we have the setting we want, we can add more pages of the document.
Office Lens: the Microsoft alternative
The first of these alternatives that we have brought you is from Google. Therefore, it was expected that Microsoft also had a similar app for its users. It is probably the easiest to use, as soon as you open the app, we will be in the camera interface. In this case, the recognition of the document is done in real time, but we can refine the corners later. This app is also designed for when we want to scan the contents of a blackboard or identification cards.
It is the easiest to make adjustments, because if it is a document, it will automatically detect this and use the adjustment of documents, if it is a blackboard, a blackboard and so on with everyone. Further, we can add text on the document or even draw, although that seems secondary. We can also add new pages to the PDF document and finally, save it or export it to our gallery, memory or multiple Microsoft applications.
