Since we wake up until we go to bed, we use it daily, constantly, and it is already difficult to imagine the world without it. WhatsApp is one of those apps that have crossed the barrier of mere applications and together with other elements of electronic culture such as emojis, there has been a place in society, day by day. And like any multitasking app, WhatsApp hides dozens of unknown functions, small tricks that make the experience easier and / or varied when using it.
Change the text format of a message
In Word, Pages and other word processors we are used to changing the text format with a single button. In this way we can place an appointment in italics, underline headings or highlight a particular name in bold. And the same thing you can do in WhatsApp, since a few years ago the messaging app supports a change of text format between its functions.
In fact it gives you two options, or in real time while you are writing your own messageor when you have done it and just before sending it. Both ways are equally simple, only that one requires you to remember to place two punctuation marks, and the other to press the screen a couple of times.
Change the text while you are writing
To write text in italics, place an underscore before and after the text.
To type text in bold, place an asterisk before and after the text.
To write strikethrough text, place a check mark before and after the text.
~ text ~
To type text in monospace, place three inverted quotes before and after the text.
Change the text after writing it
In Android you can press and hold on the text What are you writing > More> and select Bold, Italic, Crossed out or Monospaced.
On iPhone, you can press and hold on the text What are you writing > BIU> Y select Bold, Italic or Crossed out.
