Each year Huawei releases a new high-end chipset that brings Mate to life, which comes out almost immediately thereafter. So it is not surprising that speculation speaks of a new chipset, the Kirin 990 that will be released during IFA 2019. However, it is no longer speculation. Huawei has released a teaser revealing that the new Kirin will be released on September 6th.
Huawei confirms speculation! Be very careful with the Kirin 990!
The Chinese company has revealed a very short video. So it reveals that the chipset will have 5G capabilities which is really very good. If the rumors are confirmed, the modem is integrated into the chipset itself which speeds things up a lot. That is, the new Huawei or Honor tops with the Kirin 990 will have 5G capabilities.
In the meantime, this new chipset will be developed using TSMC's 7 nanometer EUV manufacturing process.
This guarantees 20% more transistor density and as such increases energy efficiency.
To better understand this concept imagine a warehouse. The more things we can put there, the better we will be able to enjoy the space.
But the great value of this chipset is not just about energy efficiency. The new chipset also allows 4K recording at 60 frames per second. It will be the first time in a Kirin chipset. Of course the Kirin 990 will also represent an upgrade in terms of artificial intelligence. All thanks to a new neural processing unit based on Huawei's Da Vinci architecture. Finally, the new chipset comes with the latest ARM processor and graphics level components.
Looking ahead, the Kirin 990 will debut with the new Huawei Mate 30. In addition, it should also bring life to next year's P-line equipment. The same should happen with Honor equipment. One thing is right. Huawei's new chipset will really be a bomb!
