Mate 30 Pro specifications
With the Mate 30 Pro Huawei wants to deliver absolute high-end. This starts with the brand new one Kirin 990 SoC, which was recently presented at the IFA in Berlin. This is the first commercially available chipset with integrated 5G modem, which is also very energy efficient. Manufactured with the state-of-the-art 7nm + EUV process, the Kirin 990 5G challenges the limits of physics – integrating a three-stage energy efficiency architecture for the CPU, Huawei's Da Vinci NPU, with a large dual NPU and tiny NPU core, and a powerful 16-core GPU for maximum performance and energy efficiency.

The Kirin 990 5G supports both 2G / 3G / 4G and 5G networks in non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) TDD and FDD frequency bands. Also dual SIM and dual standby are possible. The Huawei Mate Mate 30 Pro is equipped with a total of 21 antennas, of which 14 5G antennas alone – so not only can download movies within seconds, but also video calls in 4K realize.
Together with the 4.500 mAh large battery of the Mate 30 Pro should here a decent battery life can be achieved. Thanks to the Wired SuperCharge, the power dispenser can now be charged with 40 watts; the new smartphone supports wireless 27 Watt Wireless Supercharge. In addition, Huawei introduced a new car charger for this wireless charging standard. He picks up the phone in a standing position and closes the bracket automatically before charging. The Reverse Charge feature has also been improved and is now charging other devices even faster.

Another highlight of the Mate 30 Pro is the 6.53-inch waterfall display called the "Huawei Horizon Display". It is bent at an angle of 88 degrees on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and has a resolution of 2,400 x 1176 pixels. To achieve the curved side edges, the device not only dispenses with the earphone (sound-on-display), but also on physical volume keys. These are replaced on the side of the Mate 30 Pro with interactive side-touch functions, which among other things, the position of the volume control can be customized. This means that you can control the volume both by touching the slider on the left and on the right side of the device. The only physical key on the Mate 30 Pro's case is the on / off switch.
There were many rumors and expectations about the camera in advance. The new triple camera also played a big role in the livestream. Two 40-MP sensors are used for wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle shots, in addition to a Telelinse that shoots images at 8 MP. The fourth sensor in the round camera base does not take any photos of its own, but supports the main sensors with Time of Flight (ToF) technology. Also, the video function was neatly spiced up, here was Huawei against the competition a long time back. The Mate 30 Pro can now record 4K recordings at 60fps. But really impressive is the new slow-motion function with up to 7,680 fps. This can slow down a video 256 times, an absolute novelty for smartphone cameras.

The SuperSensing video camera is a dual main camera system that delivers professional results. It has a large 1 / 1.54-inch sensor with an ISO of up to 51,200 to record videos with extended dynamic range and ultra-slow motion up to 7680 fps. This is the first time you can capture moments that could not previously be visualized with any smartphone camera. The video camera also supports 4K low-light time-lapse videos in ultra wide-angle mode, ideal for sunrise or sunset. The second component of the dual camera system is a 1 / 1.7-inch Huawei SuperSensing sensor that delivers stunning results in low-light conditions with impressive ISO 409,600 sensitivity.

The 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom and up to 30x digital zoom, optical and AI image stabilization and 3D depth sensor complete the camera. Also on the front is the previously mentioned ToF sensor, which captures precise depth-of-field information for selfies.
In the notch of the waterfall display are in addition to the selfie camera, a 3D depth sensor, a gesture sensor and proximity and ambient light sensors. But the three sensors have their price in terms of footprint, because the Notch takes such a good part of the screen.

The new devices will need to dispense with pre-installation of Google services. Although the smartphones run on Android 10, but popular apps like Gmail, Google Maps or the Google Play Store are not installed. Tech-savvy users can download and install the programs via APKs, but many users will need the apps from Huawei's own AppStore.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu presented the new Mate 30 series at a press conference in Munich on 19.09.19.
While Huawei called the prices of the devices during the press conference today, September 19, it did not say anything about the release date or availability of the devices. On the presentation devices that we could try out after the event, EMUI 10 (Android 10 AOSP) was installed. At the time of writing, we did not have any reliable information about whether the Mate 30 series would be officially released in Europe. There are still unconfirmed rumors that this will not be the case. We are still trying to get a statement from Huawei.
