who misses Leverage can now celebrate! The free platform IMDb TV has requested a revival of the series that will begin production shortly. The release date has not yet been set, but we already know that the lead role will be played by Noah Wyle.
The actor is known for his roles in Donnie Darko and Falling Skies. In addition to Wyle, some members of the original cast are also confirmed, such as Beth Riesgraf (Parker), Gina Bellman (Sophie), Christian Kane (Eliot) and Aldis Hodge (Hardison).
For now, IMDb has commissioned the production of 13 episodes. Actor Timothy Hutton, star of the original version of Leverage, was not cast in revival because of rape allegations that dominated the media this month.
What to Expect from the Leverage Revival
According to IMDb, the revival will follow the concept of the original version, with mercenaries and their elite targets. According to Dean Devlin, executive producer of the first version and now the revival, the new episodes will be like a revamp of the initial trajectory.
While Leverage had as its central theme revenge for the death of a child, the revival will keep the focus on small mistakes that need to be fixed, but still with an emphasis on redemption. The characters’ trajectory will be told with lots of action and emotion, reproducing the original TNT crime series.
Leverage will be produced in a partnership between the IMDb TV service and the Amazon Studios, likely launching on the producer’s streaming platform. There is still no more information about the duration of the episodes and the start date of the recordings.
