IPhone XR, XS and XS Max users, in addition to the 2018 iPad Pro, will receive, with the help of iOS 13, one of the new features of the new iPhones 11: they will be able to record videos with more than one camera at a time. The new version of the operating system may allow developers to activate cameras, but with limitations.
During the introduction of the new iPhones 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, the Apple showed an application called Filmic Pro that can shoot with the four cameras of the iPhone 11 Pro at the same time, placing the rear three to record the video near the front. What until then seemed an exclusive feature of the new iPhones can also be used to some extent on the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max, along with the latest iPad Pro.
This type of recording is possible thanks to the use of a new API and it was inserted in iOS 13. The only problem is last year's high end devices will not be able to use all lenses at the same time. On iPhone XS, which has two at the back and one at the front, the user can only choose two at the same time – whatever the combination.
The limitation may be linked to excessive processing and battery consumption, or may be linked to Apple wants to sell iPhones 11 for that – remember Siri that didn't work on any iPhone below the iPhone 4S?
