Is it my impression, or the smartphones Are they all the same now? – Did you buy any smartphones recently? Had trouble choosing? What are you looking for in a mobile phone? These are all questions that have been on my mind, and probably those of many 'experts' who spend their lives talking about technology.
In fact, the market for smartphones It is in a tremendous phase of stagnation, where any choice you make will make 99% of what any high-end makes.
It's true that a high-end Huawei P30 Pro, OnePlus 7 Pro or Galaxy Note 10 offer things that a simple 200 ~ 300 € cell phone can't. But the truth is that in terms of functionality everything is very similar… And in terms of design, things have never been so close!
Notice the Xiaomi Mi 9T, which is already available on the market for 250 €.
So we have an AMOLED design, pop-up camera, 6GB of RAM, excellent photographic performance and a 4000mAh battery.
Obviously we have a mid-range SoC Snapdragon instead of the supreme SD855 juice… But it is also true that the difference in performance between them may not make up for the price difference.
By the way, this raises another question. Is it worth buying a smartphone of 1000, 1100 or 1200 €… When we have excellent smartphones under 500 €?
This will clearly depend on the user, notably on their wallet and needs. Clearly there is still room for smartphones ‘Super Premium’ in the current market. But while these smartphones get better and better, and also more expensive. Brand rivalry and technological progress is causing the old smartphones ‘Budget’ get more and more attractive.
In the end, good phones are not getting cheap… None of that! Cheap phones are getting very good! Probably too good for the plans of the Apple, Samsung and Huawei. (Currently the best known premium brands in the market)
Interestingly enough, it's funny, since the current state of the market is most likely to be the fault of Apple and Samsung!
Do you still remember the market for smartphones, before the arrival of the first iPhone? We had shell phones, sliding keyboard phones, pocket PC's Windows with Stylus, etc…
The world of mobile phones had so many interesting designs that it's very difficult to describe everything that existed here. However, today is all the same!
All the smartphones The market is now a sandwich made of glass and aluminum, where the main goal is to occupy as much of the front as possible with the OLED display.
By the way, do you still remember the last great evolution of the world of smartphones? The inclusion of facial recognition system? Does the print sensor pass from front to back? Or the passage of the fingerprint sensor from the rear to the screen?
These are elements that little or nothing affected the usability of the device! That is, compared to the arrival of the first fingerprint sensor, arrival of the first OLED screen… These are just minor developments. Nothing shocking!
When was the last time you looked at a smartphone and kept your mouth open?
Just yesterday, a friend asked for help buying a new smartphone. Of course, I promptly sent him 2 or 3 links to see what he thought. However, I found your answer very curious “Holy fire, they're all the same!“.
Well they are … Well they are … Who knows? It may be that the age of smartphones folding, change this black paradigm.
