Huawei usually offers to launch a new set of Kirin chips every year in order to bring its new members of the Mate range to life. This is a tradition that dates back to the Huawei Mate 8 as a minimum and now adds a new step. The brand has just officially presented the Kirin 990, his first 5G 7nm chipset which will give life to the new Huawei Mate 30 that will be officially launched in the market in the middle of the month.

The Chinese brand presents its new Kirin 990, manufactured in a 7-nanometer process with the two types of 5G available today, boasting more power and intelligence than chipsets manufactured by Qualcomm and Samsung. The main peculiarity of the mobile is that it integrates the 5G modem into its design, which offers better energy efficiency than in other processors that house the 5G modem separately with the chipset, as is the case of the Kirin 980.
This format allows the 5G to be incorporated into new models, lowering costs, so a 2020 year is plagued with Huawei terminals compatible with these networks. Energy efficiency is also favored by working in a process 7 nm EUV, which at the same time increases the power with respect to the top-of-the-range processor of the previous firm more than obviously. Huawei says it is the most powerful processor in the market, and that it is the best in its class with regard to energy efficiency.
On a technical level, the chip has 10.3 billion transistors, much more than the 6.9 billion present in the Kirin 980 and 5.5 billion in the Kirin 970. It features an eight-core architecture with two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores for more demanding tasks, two “intermediate” Cortex-A76s for one Normal work and four Cortex-A55 cores for light tasks.
The cores themselves are identical to those of the Kirin 980, but its clock speeds have increased slightly. The high-performance cores now operate at 2.86 GHz compared to the 2.6 GHz of the previous model, while the intermediate cores come to offer a frequency of 2.36 GHz compared to the 1.92 GHz of the 980. The efficiency cores offer 1.95 GHz with respect to the previous maximum value of 1.8 GHz. According to Huawei, this offers an improvement of between 10% and 9% compared to its main competitor, the Snapdragon 855.
New colors for the P30 Pro and Smart Headphones
Taking advantage of its event at the Berlin fair, the brand has also announced the availability, for the same month of September of two new colors for the Huawei P30 Pro. Throughout this month the Mystic Blue and Misty Lavender tones will reach the market, Available to book shortly.
Similarly the brand has also announced today the new wireless stereo headphones Huawei FreeBuds 3 True, with a clear focus on the premium audio market. These helmets are powered by the new Kirin A1 chip that allows FreeBuds 3 to present an intelligent sound rarely seen on the market.
