HMD Global could have a new vintage surprise in store for IFA 2019: it would be Nokia 2720, a shell phone launched back in 2009. The device could come back to life and enjoy connectivity 4G.
Nokia 2720 is ready to return?
It seems so, to give rise to the doubt are a couple of certifications of a mysterious model (Nokia TA-1170) first appeared in Thailand and then in China. The certified mobile phone, with 4G connectivity, could be just Nokia 2720.
If HMD Global really wanted to add it to its collection of revisited and corrected vintage phones, it would be one of the most interesting models given its form factor: it is indeed a shell phone. A format much appreciated by users at least in the past. Among its main advantages, the drastic lowering of the risk of sending unintended phone calls.
We don't know what could change on the new Nokia 2720 compared to the past. The original model (which you can still buy on Amazon to EUR 57.01) was considered a feature phone in all respects: it had a internal color display (approx. 1.9 ") and a 1.3" monochrome exterior. Furthermore, there was also a camera and connection Bluetooth. At the time, energy autonomy was based on an 860 mAh battery, but if the presence of 4G connectivity was confirmed, it would need at least a thousand mAh to offer good energy performance.
