Official Honor Play 3: the only flaw is (maybe) the screen

by Kelvin

Honor wants us to do some confusion with the names of its products: a couple of months ago it presented Play 8, an entry level in every respect. Today, however, he presented Honor Play 3, a new smartphone with interesting features (for the price) and, contrary to what the name implies, is of a higher range than Play 8.

Technical Features Honor Play 3

  • Screen: 6.39 "HD + (720 x 1.560 pixels)
  • CPU: Kirin 710F at 7 nm
  • RAM: 4/6 GB
  • Internal memory: 64/128 GB expandable (with microSD up to 512 GB)
  • Rear camera: 48 MP f / 1.8 + wide angle 8 MP f / 2.4 (120 °) + depth 2 MP f / 2.4
  • Front camera: 8 megapixels, f / 2.0
  • Battery: 4.000 mAh
  • OS: Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1.1

In short, we have a medium-low end phone in front of us, but with one inside more than enough hardware equipment for general use of a smartphone.

The only discordant note in the technical data sheet might be it "only" HD + screen, but this reduction in resolution has the great advantage of consuming less battery. This factor, combined with the 7 nm processor and the interesting battery could bring (on paper) to one excellent autonomy.

Honor Play 3 will come in three colors (Blue, Black and Red), with pre-order starting September 10th and sales from the following September 17th. However, they are given for Chinese market, while we do not know the availability in other markets.

THE prices sales are very interesting though: it starts from 999 yuan (€ 127) for the 4/64 GB version and then goes to 1299 yuan (€ 165) for the 4/128 GB version and, strangely, also for the 6/128 GB.
