The Pixel 4 is also a new version of the Google Camera app shipped. After extracting an APK from Pixel 4's pre-amp device and downloading it on the Internet, we've already tried out the new Google Camera app and explain all the new features.

A pre-release version of Google Camera 7 was leaked. We have already tried the new camera app on a Pixel smartphone. | (c) Areamobile
As XDA Developers reports, a tipster has sent them the APK of the upcoming Google Camera app in version 7. After investigating the file, the developers concluded that it was an APK that appeared to have been extracted from a pre-release version of Pixel 4. We have the APK installed on our Pixel 3a and the Google Camera App 7 already tried. It turned out that most of the changes reported by leaks in recent weeks are actually being implemented.
The new user interface
The options are now displayed in Google Camera 7 in an overlay window above the viewfinder.
The first thing you notice is that the camera modes are now at the bottom of the window, below the Camera Switcher, Shutter, and Gallery buttons. To match the shape of the other two buttons, Google has now also enclosed the icon of the camera switch with a circle and the corners of the viewfinder window in the display are now rounded – apparently again a design decision to the rounded corners of the Displays to match. The presetting of the viewfinder is a recording in 16: 9, of course you can also switch to the previous 4: 3 view. As in previous and current version 6.3, the camera modes can also be swiped to the left or right by swiping through the viewfinder.
The bar at the top of the screen, where previously settings such as flash, timer self-timer, etc. were, is history. There is now only a small arrow, which opens a square menu that then appears in the middle of the viewfinder. There you can and easily select the different options of the respective camera mode by tapping. For example, "Photo" will set RAW, Photos with Motion, Timer, Flash, and the aspect ratio of the photo, or go to this menu by swiping down from anywhere on the viewfinder an option to enable or disable audio recording and in portrait mode allows you to adjust the intensity of the facial retouching and activate the selfie illumination so that the display illuminates the face in addition to the ambient light. To access the general settings, you do not need to more cumbersome to navigate to the last "camera mode" "more", but find the gear for it in any camera mode page.
Optimized zoom regulator
The zoom and exposure sliders have been optimized to make them smoother in operation, while the exposure slider no longer reveals the level, the zoom slider now shows the zoom level to within one decimal place Apple has applied for the presentation of his iPhones, now finds its way into the pixel camera app. If you press and hold the shutter button in camera mode, recording of a video will start. The recording takes place in 720p and lasts as long as you hold down the shutter button. This feature apparently replaces the previous Smart Burst functionality, which allowed you to easily capture burst images in this way.
The zoom slider in Google Camera v7 now also shows the zoom level. Maximum was a digital 7x zoom possible.
As reported Golem.de, there were already rumors that Google wants to abolish the continuous shooting in favor of the top shot function. For Top Shot, an AI looks for the best images in a series of shots that are automatically captured using the Motion feature. The camera makes additional pictures before and after the shutter is released.
Night photography with "infinity" focus
In the night view mode, there is now the focus option "infinity" – apparently the preparation for the announced astrophotography.
The most expected after the full-bodied announcements from Google in allegedly possible Astrophotografie probably the camera mode "night vision" where Google has added as a new focusing option "infinity", probably the best option for the advertised in a leaked advertising video astrophotography at Google Pixel 4. In addition, there are the three focal planes: autofocus, near and far, according to Google focus "near" on about 4 feet (1.2 meters), "far" on about 12 feet (about 3.7 meters).
Our first attempts with night shots in Google Camera 7 showed that the image quality has visibly improved in comparison to the previous version, but still noticeable image noise is noticeable. At least pixel 3a does not come close to the Huawei P30 Pro in direct comparison with night shots even with the new photo app. However, it should be noted that this is not just a leaked pre-release version of the software, but the feature for the Pixel 4 is announced and this smartphone will of course go with new photo hardware at the start. On Google's new flagship, the night pictures should probably look much better.

Time lapse & horizon alignment
If you use the camera's time-lapse mode, you will now get suggestions to help you choose the right speed. The app recommends 5x as "good for lively groups", 10x as "good for walking", 30x as "good for busy places" and 120x as "good for sunsets".
The Google Camera app in version 7 now includes a horizon screen that helps you straighten the image.
In addition, there is now a help function in the app for straightening the smartphone – similar to the horizon display in an airplane. To capture selfies with moving pictures, Google Camera 7 no longer has its own mode. To use this option, switch to the selfie camera and then select "Automatic" for "Photos with Motion Picture".
Release of Google Camera 7
The installation of the Google Camera 7 APK can be done via the existing v6.3.
Officially Google Camera 7 will probably appear with the Pixel 4 (XL). The release date for the new Google flagship smartphone is scheduled for October 15. Already, however, the APK of Google Camera 7 can be found about apk-mirror and can be installed and tested via sideload. We installed it on a Pixel 3a with Android 10 and the app ran without problems. Other colleagues reportedly worked with a Pixel 2 that also worked well on Google Camera 7. The new version should work with any Pixel smartphone; How well she works with phones from other manufacturers in this not yet final version, we can not currently say. Therefore, as with the installation of all unofficial versions of software, we generally advise caution and point out that there might be problems such as crashes.
