Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus Appears on Geekbench List

NESABAMEDIA.COM – Qualcomm seems to be very consistent in following the planned update schedule with several Snapdragon flagship chipsets. Usually the standard version will be released in December, while the Plus model will usually be presented in July. Approaching the schedule, a new chipset believed to be Snapdragon 888 Plus appeared on the Geekbench listing.

The big and different change when compared to Snapdragon 888 is the performance of the X1 core which has been overclocked to 3.0 Ghz compared to the previous version which was only 2.84 Ghz. The Geekbench listing also reveals four A55 low-power cores running at 1.84 Ghz and three additional Cortex-A78 clusters running at 2.4 Ghz.

With this kind of equipment, Snapdragon 888 Plus was able to reach 1,171 points in single core and 3,704 points in multi-core. This score is in line with the results seen from Snapdragon 888-powered devices such as last year’s Snapdragon 865 Plus which is also in line with the Snapdragon 865. It seems that the score will rival the test results of the iPhone 12.

Qualcomm’s move to release updates and upgrades to their chipsets in the middle of this year is a habit that has been in place for several years. Most likely, this new chipset will power a number of Android flagship smartphones that will be released later this year, as did the Snapdragon 865 Plus in 2020.

So many expect that this chipset can be present in smartphones released in the second half of 2021, such as the OnePlus 9T. Even now, there is no definite information on which new device is rumored to be using the Snapdragon 888 Plus.

There’s not much more information about these other changes to the Snapdragon 888 Plus, although last year’s Snapdragon 865 Plus did offer a slightly larger GPU clock increase and boost the FastConnect 6900 chip. Hopefully, more information about the Snapdragon 888 Plus will come in a few weeks. forward.
