A new version of ReactOS, the clone of Windows Open source, is available for download.
ReactOS 0.4.12 brings a multitude of improvements including better font management, working on rendering specifically, and new themes for the system, among many other changes.
This update introduces support for Windows Snap, which means that keyboard shortcuts can now be used to attach windows to the right or left, and adds support for the Intel e1000 NIC controller, used in virtual machines. Kernel improvements, support for user DLLs and general fixes have also reached this new version.
The developers themselves have mentioned that the system now has better functionality in many of its aspects and is closer to being like Windows, your final goal.
While ReactOS can be tested in a virtual machine, It is recommended that you install it directly on your hardware.
If you want to install ReactOS you must have an x86 processor, at least 256MB of RAM, 5GB of tests and a VGA compatible graphics. You can download it from the official website.
