The new ones were unveiled today, as anticipated by the Xiaomi spin-off redmi Note 8 is redmi Note 8 Pro. The latter is officially the first smartphone with one 64 megapixel camera put on the market and the price is among the most competitive that can be found in the sector. With this new launch, Redmi is a candidate to erode new market shares, following the incredible success of the previous Redmi series Note 7, which sold out in online and offline stores.
redmi Note 8: specifications and details
The less rich and cheaper version of the two new devices, the Redmi Note 8 works with a chipset Snapdragon 665 based on the 11 nm process. The SoC has eight Kryo 260 cores, four of which are clocked at 2.20 GHz, the others at 1.80 GHz. The photographic sector is very respectable: 48-megapixel main sensor with Samsung ISOCELL GM2 sensor, secondary with wide-angle lens 8 megapixel, dedicated 2 megapixel macro and 2 megapixel depth sensor. The four cameras are positioned at the top left of the rear panel, in a vertical configuration. The front features a notch that houses the 13 megapixel selfie camera.
The 6.3-inch display is an LCD with Full HD + resolution. The fingerprint reader remains on the back of the device (and not under the display as it is not an OLED). The battery is quite large, at 4,000 mAh, and supports the 18 W charging speed via a USB-C port coupled with a highly appreciated 3.5 mm audio jack. The operating system pre-installed at launch is Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 custom interface. Available colors: black, white and blue, al price of 125 euros for the 4/64 GB option, 150 euros for the 6/64 GB and finally 175 for the 6/128 GB one.

The richest version with the most interesting quality / price ratio is RedMi Note 8 Pro, the world's first smartphone with a 64 MP camera equipped with a sensor Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 which includes quad-binning pixel technology. The photographic sector of the flagship RedMi is arranged in a vertical configuration with four cameras positioned in the center of the rear panel. In addition to the 64 megapixel main sensor there are the same ones already seen for the RedMi Note 8. The selfie camera, always hidden in the notch, is however 20 megapixels and includes several IA features as well as options for automatic scene recognition.
The phone display has a 6.53-inch diagonal, always with an LCD panel and Full HD + resolution. The frames are small (the lower one is only 4.2 mm thick). Software side does not change anything. Here the processor is a MediaTek Helio G90T, another record for RedMi Note 8 Pro: the first smartphone with the new SoC platform.
In addition this phone is the first of the brand to arrive with one liquid cooling chamber to compensate for the heating expected during the game phases. Always designed for gaming the feature that, in order to provide games without interruptions, allows you to connect simultaneously to both WiFi and 4G.
The battery is 4,500 mAh and has 18 W of speed fast charge. The configurations available are those with 6/8 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of memory, the colors to choose from are black, green and white. On the shelves of Chinese stores this phone will arrive in September at an equivalent price of 175 euros for the 6/64 GB option and 225 euros for the 8/128 GB variant.
