REVIEW: HP ProBook 445 G7 Notebook Brings Portability and Great Performance to the Corporate Market

The enterprise-focused HP Probook 445 G7 delivers exceptional performance with AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500U processor and 10+ hour battery life

THE HP presented in september its new professional notebook arriving in Brazil, the HP ProBook 445 G7. Available in Brazil in three versions, the new notebook from HP is the brand’s first professional notebook that comes with the processor AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. The equipment also combines family features and functionalities HP Elite of notebooks with the proposal of an excellent cost-benefit.

But does the HP ProBook 445 G7 delivers this cost-effective? Check out Showmetech’s review, testing the full version of the new notebook from HP.

O HP ProBook 445 G7 takes the word thin seriously in its two meanings: thinness and elegance.

With 32.4cm wide, 23.7cm high, 1.79cm thick and weighing 1.6kg, the model is surprising for its practicality to be transported, occupying little space, weighing little in your backpack or suitcase and with a perfectly convenient weight. for those who use the notebook while standing on one arm while taking notes.

On the metal lid of the notebook, we only have the logo of the HP and on the underside, in aluminum, the rubber grips on surfaces and ventilation grilles – note that the sound outlets are not here. The aluminum finish is a differential, as it is usually present only in premium (and higher-value) equipment, as the material offers greater resistance and durability to the product.

On the back, with minimalism and elegance, only the name “ProBook” is engraved.

On the right side we have, from bottom to top, a P2 input, for headphones and microphones, two USB 3.1 type inputs, an HDMI input, an RJ-45 input (network cable), a USB-C input and the charger input.

On the left side, there is an SD card slot, air vents (improving cooling), a USB 2.0 type port and a security lock.

Inside, we have the keys in black, differentiating from the rest in silver on the notebook. O trackpad it has a pretty good area, with an extremely subtle and pleasurable touch. One of the most elegant details, still in the trackpad, it’s a light bevel (bevel, in free translation), which gives a little shine to the edges.

Above, we have the ABNT2 standard keyboard which is not so soft, but the shallow keys mean you can press them very softly, facilitating dynamic typing. Above the ESC key is the button power which, when pressed, lights a led white indicating that the notebook is turned on. Finally, above, we have the sound outputs.

There is also a button for fingerprint recognition, with a very well optimized response time, unlocking the computer almost instantly.

The 14” screen has few edges on the sides, but on the tops and bottoms it could spread out better, so it would increase the user’s immersion. Above, there is an interesting feature called slider, which you can use to cover your camera when you’re not using it.

the webcam that accompanies the HP ProBook 445 G7, shoots in HD (1280 x 720 pixels), with more than satisfactory quality for video conferences throughout the week.

Screen and Audio

O HP ProBook 445 G7 it has a 14-inch screen with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 px), 60 Hz IPS type panel and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. that leaves something to be desired.

Despite these problems, the screen is of good quality and should meet everyday needs well.

On the other hand, audio is one of the strongest points of the new HP ProBook 445 G7. The speakers whose outputs are on the inside are a real show apart. The sound is at a considerably louder volume, completely precluding the need for an external speaker if you are listening/watching something significantly close to the notebook.

The sound is full-bodied, the highs and mids reach high volumes and with good definition, while the bass fills the sound very well, having excellent definition even for synth beats.

The microphone is also of good quality, achieving a slightly clean and crisp sound even from 30cm/50cm away. If you try to use it from further away, the capture starts to fail. So the audio package from the HP ProBook 445 G7 it’s good enough for holding meetings and even spending time watching movies and series on a daily basis.

The keyboard is in ABNT 2 format, that is, it contains all the necessary support for writing Brazilian Portuguese. It doesn’t have a numeric keypad (because it’s a compact notebook, which prioritizes space). Although its keys aren’t very soft, they’re pretty shallow, so it’s quick and easy to get used to the keyboard’s grip.

The column of keys after the Enter it’s very interesting because it binds the buttons delete, home, page up, page down, end and the right directional pad. One suggestion would be to add the function Pause/Play on the F2 or F9 keys, as both are empty.

One challenge to write this review was to make the drums for HP ProBook 445 G7 unload completely.

The battery has three 45Wh lithium-ion cells that, performing only simple tasks, such as working with Excel spreadsheets, Word files, social networks and browsing websites, will easily reach around 15 hours of duration (promise of HP in the presentation of the model).

For this review, I tested the screen time that the HP ProBook 445 G7 delivery by viewing videos on YouTube with maximum brightness and sound, and the result was an impressive 12 hours. So, with this model in hand, you certainly won’t have to worry about taking the charger with you when you go to a meeting elsewhere, even with the notebook nearby of 50% battery.

(image showing the charger and saying that this is one of the strongest points of the model)

THE HP send a charger HP Fast Charge, which also surprises. It guarantees fast charging up to 50% in around 30 minutes, and charges the battery from 0 to 100% in almost two hours.

We arrived at one of the main points of the new HP ProBook 445 G7. It is the first professional notebook from the brand to come with the processor AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. AMD Ryzen processors are still not as popular in Brazil, but the brand, the main competitor of the Intel, has been working on modern processors with great cost-effectiveness.

A big advantage of AMD processors is the integrated graphics Radeon Vega, which perform an excellent job even with more power than the UHD Graphics offered by Intel.

O HP ProBook 445 G7 comes with the Windows 10 Pro factory installed, a version of Windows which has a focus precisely on the corporate market.

Its memory features 8GB of DDR4-3200 SDRAM which, together with 256GB SSD storage, ensure smooth performance without crashing. For those who are used to having many files stored, carrying them up and down with them, can consider only 256GB of storage as a defect, but precisely the SSD storage instead of the HD allows quick access to the stored information.

With so much recent technology, the experience of using the HP ProBook 445 G7 It is very nice. Waiting to open programs like Word, Excel and PowerPoint is very fast. Even using multiple tabs at the same time, leaving files open and watching videos, performance remains stable with extremely high quality.

Where the power of the new notebook from HP begins to find its limitations, it is with editing tools that require more of the processing and graphics power that the computer can offer. Less complex edits in Photoshop and Illustrator can start to heat up the notebook, but complex image and especially video edits will strain the model.

Regarding games, some lighter ones like League of Legends, CS GO among others, they won’t find a problem, but heavier games like FarCry 5 it will be basically impossible to play.

The new HP ProBook 445 G7 surprises and very much for its cost-effectiveness, its strengths that really bring a premium notebook experience at a cheaper price. The practicality and convenience of the model extends from its weight, dimensions, battery to its price, allied to a smart design that is functional and at the same time, beautiful and elegant.

As said before, the screen could be more daring and occupy more space in addition to having a more intense brightness, but despite this it delivers a competent Full HD that provides beautiful images.

In relation to the model’s performance, the points where it falls short, in reality, are points where it never set out to be good. Anyone who needs computers for more detailed and heavy editions, or even gaming computers, should look for other products that will put the graphics power in front of various elements such as the notebook’s weight, the slim design and the huge battery.

So, the HP ProBook 445 G7, is strongly recommended for those who do not need so much graphic power, but appreciate a smooth and quality navigation, combined with the practicality of a light model with excellent battery life.

Price and availability

O HP Probook 445 G7 it is already available in retail stores in Brazil and you can find it at the HP store at the price of R$5,243.08 in the ticket.
