Announced in January 2017, Nokia 6 became the first smartphone of this new Nokia that came from the hands of HMD Asia and marked the rebirth of the brand in the Android company, after the existing failures with Microsoft and Windows Phone
Nokia 6 is a mid-range that stands out for its decent design to be high-end, as well as offering a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD screen, which works thanks to an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage that can be expanded with MicroSD.
In the camera not far because we will find the rear 16 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture and dual LED flash, in addition to having the ability to record Full HD video at 30 frames per second. Front sensor reaches 8 megapixels and aperture f / 2.0.
It has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos technology and the operating system is Android 7.1.1 Nougat with a native interface and not 100% modified. All of the above works with a 3000 mAh battery capacity and is protected by a front fingerprint reader.
Design and display
Our protagonist has a design suitable for high ranges, because the body is made entirely of aluminum with precision grinding, a manufacturing process that requires 55 minutes of work from solid metal blocks.
The dimensions are 154 x 75.8 x 7.85 mm, while it weighs up to 169 grams. Nokia 6 turned out to be very comfortable when you have it in your hands, due to its size 5.5 The current inches are almost standard, proving to be a comfortable size for most. Its weight doesn't make me uncomfortable either, except when I carry it in my pocket.
This is a beautiful, elegant and well-built design, similar to its brother Nokia 3 that we review occasionally, but with the difference that here it is observed that it is the "largest" of the three models that Nokia currently owns, at first glance, It doesn't seem like a middle class team.
Returning to your screen, I tell you that we are facing 5.5-inch IPS LCD with Full HD resolution 1920 × 1080 pixels, 16: 9 format and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass technology, in addition to reaching a density of 403 pixels per inch
The image quality turned out to be quite good, decent for an IPS LCD screen that offers bright colors and a level of brightness that is quite acceptable as it reaches 450 nits as reported by Nokia. The tactile sensitivity seems good to me, like the definition in which the screen looks quite good when watching HD content.
These are some of the available settings you will find for the display:
✔︎ Nice and elegant design✔︎ Good material ︎ ︎ Very comfortable to use and carry ︎ Screen Very good quality screen
Nokia 6 has a rear sensor that reaches a resolution of 16 megapixels, with f / 2.0 aperture and dual-tone flash, it has the possibility of capturing Full HD video at 30 frames per second. On the other hand, the front camera has an 8 megapixel resolution with f / 2.0 aperture and can also capture videos in Full HD quality.
When running an application with which we can use the camera, we will find the Nokia interface where we will find virtual buttons to take photos, record videos, enable or disable the flash, timer, activate HDR and options to switch to the front camera. We will also see a direct access to access the photos or videos taken.
In the next video that I will leave below, you can see the interface of the camera in action and take the opportunity to show you the full menu of settings, where you can activate the compass that will appear in the main interface and help us navigate. We can also activate the altimeter and the leveler, both can work together with the compass on the main screen, among other functions.
But that's not all, dear readers, you can also configure the capture settings, you can choose between "Detect scenes", "Default" or "Custom". If you choose the latter option, various manual settings will appear on the main screen so that you can control the ISO, focus, white balance and exposure values.
Now that you know how the camera works, it is time for you to see the results obtained when taking photos with a Nokia 6 camera. I remind you that these photos were taken in full resolution and with all settings in automatic mode.
Our protagonist can capture Full HD quality videos with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and at 30 frames per second (fps). I leave you the video recorded with Nokia 6 in the highest quality allowed. You have to calculate it YouTube The original quality is declining.
✔︎ Camera app is quite comprehensive and easy to use ✔ Very good quality photos in good light condition ✔ Acceptable video quality Malam Night flash photos with acceptable quality
✘ Low-light photos emit noise and are slightly blurred
Hardware, system and battery
Nokia 6 has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor that runs at 1.4GHz speeds, which is accompanied by 3GB of RAM and Adreno 505 GPU. Internal storage reaches 32GB, but can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 128 GB.
As for connectivity, this device can connect to the following networks:
3G NETWORK: 850/900/1700 AWS / 1900/2100
4G NETWORK: B2, B3, B4 AWS, B7 CHILE, B12, B17, B28 CHILE and B38
LTE Category 4 150/50 Mbps: Does not support 4G +
Compatible with WOM, Entel, Claro and Movistar networks (also OMV)
It is also compatible with Wi-Fi networks. 2.4 and 5 GHz, as well as with Bluetooth and NFC devices, as well as A-GPS and MicroUSB (USB) 2.0 ports, compatible with USB On-The-Go.
All of the above is operated by the Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system, which is 100% pure because it does not have an adjustment layer. Thanks to this, Nokia promised to continue updating its equipment to the level of Google Pixels, and until now they will keep their words, because Nokia 6 that we should try to update with the Android security patch in June (this equipment was tested in late June).
How did Nokia achieve this difficult promise?
Nokia will have two update servers for all its devices. The first will be used by phones sold in Asia, because in Asian countries there are different configurations that do not suit us. The second server will be oriented to all Nokia phones sold worldwide, avoiding having to send updates by region or country, or worse depending on the operator, as happened with Samsung, Huawei, LG, Sony … etc.
As for the performance offered by Nokia 6, I tell you that it is quite good when you go through various functions of the operating system. However, the team needed time to open the app, not because it was generally slow, but rather took a little more time than usual to run the game or app. This is where you point out that you have a Snapdragon 430, I think you should bring Snapdragon from the 600 range.
I will leave you below the video where I will show you how to connect Nokia 6 recently, in addition to being able to see how the operating system runs on this computer:
All the above functions thanks to the capacity of the 3000 mAh battery, which is charged through its MicroUSB port. We started testing the battery using a computer as if it were our own and therefore we can tell you how it behaves.
Let's continue with the details:
App used: Twitter, Facebook, MessengerGoogle Chrome, Google Now, Spotify, Music, Gmail, YouTube, Earthquake Detector, Google Fit, Android Wear, Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram.
Connected clothing products: LG G Watch R
Active connectivity: Wi-Fi (5GHz), 4G LTE, Bluetooth and A-GPS
Brightness of the screen: Automatic
With the use described above, Nokia 6 managed to give me more than autonomy 17 hours and 7 clock with 9 minute display
Note: The equipment comes from a factory that is configured to allow energy savings by having a 15% battery

Multimedia and audio
With Nokia 6 you can listen to all your favorite music stored on your computer using Google Music, because that will be the default audio player you will find. With it, you can create and manage playlists and access the audio streaming services offered by Google through this player. You can also access a five-band EQ and surround audio effects, plus an audio system that has Dolby Atmos technology.
We also have a Nokia FM radio tuner that will give you excellent signal reception, sound quality and is fully compatible with the RDS system so you have additional information about the station, song or program you are listening to.
As for the video, the team uses the Google Photos application, which also acts as an image gallery. Although the interface and features they offer are fairly basic, it perfectly delivers on what it promises. However, on Google Play you can find better free and compatible alternatives.
Sound quality obtained through the integrated 3.5mm jack, according to my wishes, turned out well despite the fact that everything will depend on the type of headphones you are using. It has good bass, good treble and the strength of the volume is not 100% limited by the software, because I would say that it reaches 95% of its original strength, we add that it has Dolby Atmos technology.
I have the same experience when using Bluetooth stereo headphones, because the sound is quite good, but as I mentioned before, it will all depend on the type of headphones you are using. The downside is that Bluetooth doesn't have Apt-X codec support.
Front stereo speakers
Nokia 6 It has two speakers to produce stereo sound and uses Dolby Atmos technology. The sound quality is very good for my taste, even the sound is very good. However, when we approach the maximum volume, the bass sound is reduced so that the audio is not saturated.
✔︎ Great audio quality in wired and Bluetooth headsets✔︎ Stereo speakers✔︎ Dolby Atmos technology✔︎ Has FM radio with RDS✔︎ Has everything you need for the multimedia area
✘ Not compatible with Apt-X codec when using a video with Bluetooth stereo headphones The video player is very basic
Nokia 6 is a smartphone that I personally like, it offers a good camera, a very elegant and beautiful design, a good battery, a screen … etc., in addition to having an affordable price. And if that's not enough, it will always update to the latest Android.
But everything that is good must have something that does not make it perfect, and in the case of Nokia 6 it is a processor, because the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 is not powerful enough to open applications and games quickly, it needs a small system. I think Nokia should choose Snapdragon 600 etc.
I reiterate, Nokia 6 is a middle-class smartphone, but it will offer you high-class features, both in design and function, even if you have stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. In conclusion, I would recommend this Nokia without a doubt because it is a pretty good device and will continue to be updated, which is important.
Nokia 6 will be available for the next few weeks at prices we currently do not know, but when Nokia provides the correct information, we will update this section.
