Samsung Galaxy A50s and Samsung Galaxy A30s, a renewal of its mid-range with photography as a weapon

Samsung continues to renew its mid-range mobile catalog. It does so by adding the last name "s" after the name of the terminal, as we have seen in the new Galaxy A10s and in the recently announced Samsung Galaxy A50s (brother of Galaxy A50) and Galaxy A30s (brother of Galaxy A30).

As we said, both are mid-range devices that bet strongly on photography and battery, at least on paper. They are terminals that follow the design lines that we have seen in the latest Samsung releases, so we found the drop-shaped notch, varied colors and fingerprint reader under the screen. Let's see what they offer.

Very similar on the outside, not so much on the inside

Starting with the aesthetic section, the truth is that saving a few differences in size and weight, it is difficult to distinguish both terminals. The Samsung Galaxy A50s and A30s have a clean back, finished in different colors (Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Green and Prism Crush Violet) and without rear fingerprint reader, since this has been implemented under the screen. From the design, it should also be noted that the charging port is of the USB type C type.

Speaking of the screen, the two mobiles have the same size, but different types of notch and resolution. We found a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel with drop-shaped notch in the case of Galaxy A50s and more triangular in the case of Galaxy A30s A purely aesthetic difference, not like the resolution, which is FullHD + (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) in the most powerful model and HD + (1,560 x 720 pixels) in its little brother.

Different engines, but same battery and number of cameras

We pass inside the devices, where we find varied configurations. It is easier if we see them one by one. The Galaxy A50s has 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage expandable with microSD cards. Samsung has not mentioned the processor, it has only said that it is eight cores at a maximum speed of 2.3 GHz, so it could be the Exynos 9610.

Both devices have microSD card slot and 4,000 mAh battery

Samsung Galaxy A30s, meanwhile, has 3 or 4 GB of RAM, 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage expandable and an eight-core processor, two at 1.8 GHz and six at 1.6 GHz. It is not confirmed by the firm, but it could be an Exynos 7904 for the number of cores and their speeds, the same as the Galaxy M20

Both share the amperage of their batteries: 4,000 mAh with 15W fast charge. The operating system is Android 9 Pie with One UI, Samsung's new-not-so-new customization layer. As we can see, they are terminals that have certain similarities, although it is clear that the Galaxy A50s is more powerful.

And we end up talking about the cameras. The two phones have four lenses, three behind and one in front. The differences lie in the resolution of the main sensor and the camera for selfies, since the Galaxy A50s has a 48 megapixel f / 2.0 sensor and the Galaxy A30s of 25 megapixels. The front camera, meanwhile, has 32 megapixels f / 2.0 in the Galaxy A50s and 16 megapixels f / 2.0 in the Galaxy A30s The configuration is as follows:

  • Main 48/25 megapixel sensor, depending on the model.
  • Ultra wide angle (123ΒΊ) of 8 megapixels.
  • 5 megapixel ToF sensor.

Versions and price of Samsung Galaxy A50s and Galaxy A30s

Although Samsung has unveiled the terminals, has not ruled out as to its official starting price or its availability. It will be a matter of time they reach the market. What we do know is that there will be several colors (white, black, green and violet) and that they will arrive in different configurations of RAM and internal storage (4/6 + 64/128 GB in the Galaxy A50s and 3/4 + 32/64/128 GB in the Galaxy A30s)
