Currently, most of the flagship Android smartphones are always produced by the same 5 manufacturers, but there are some exceptions. One of them is the Japanese Sharp, which just released the amazing Aqud R3 on the Snapdragon 855. It is known as one of the first dual-notch smartphones to offer amazing specifications. We still do not know its listing price, but, given that we know all its characteristics, we can compare it with other affordable flagships to give you a deep idea of ββits capabilities. For this comparison, we chose Xiaomi Mi 9 and Meizu 16s, because we believe that they are ideal candidates to compete with the new Sharp's flagship in the same price range.

design
Sharp Aquos R3, Meizu 16s and Xiaomi Mi 9 come with a premium design and also with excellent build quality, so it's just a matter of taste. While the Meizu 16s has a notch-less display, the Sharp Aquos R3 comes with a double notch: one is a classic gutter cutout on the upper side, in which the front camera is located, and the other from the bottom and contains the Home physical key. with integrated fingerprint reader. On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 9 has a classic design with a water notch. Which one would you choose?
display
Sharp is one of the best-known display makers, and you could expect the Aquos R3 to come with an amazing panel. Although it is not an AMOLED display, it manages to display incredibly pleasing colors thanks to HDR technology, and it even comes with the highest refresh rate in the mobile sector: 120 Hz. Last but not least, it has a higher resolution Quad HD + with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. Some may not like the double slot, but the display quality is undoubtedly amazing.
Hardware
The hardware department is a key feature of these phones. They all come with Qualcomm's most powerful chipset in 2019: the Snapdragon 855. This way you get the same (and awesome) features in every scenario. The Meizu 16s wins the hardware comparison, as it comes in a more advanced memory configuration (which is also available at a higher price, obviously). We are talking about one with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, and the most expensive Xiaomi Mi 9 and Sharp Aquos R3 configurations are 8/128 GB and 6/128 GB. They all come with Android 9 Pie out of the box.
camera
At least according to the specifications on paper, Xiaomi Mi 9 boasts a more interesting rear camera setup. It has three sensors at the back, including an ultra-wide angle lens and a telephoto lens. On the other hand, the Meizu 16 lacks an ultra-wide sensor, but, unlike the Mi 9, it has both optical and electronic stabilization, as well as a brighter focal aperture. Given that I don't like how dark some photos get in bright lighting, I personally prefer the Xiaomi Mi 9.
battery
Meizu 16s has the largest battery and, with a capacity of 3600 mAh, provides longer battery life than Sharp Aquos R3 and Xiaomi Mi 9. Note that Meizu 16s does not support wireless charging, while Xiaomi Mi 9 and Sharp Aquos The R3s support the Mi 9 even comes with very fast 20W charging technology.
Price
In their basic versions, Xiaomi Mi 9 and Meizu 16s are currently available with starting prices of 450 Euro / 505 dollars and 420 Euro / 471 dollars (price 16 applies to China), respectively. As for the Sharp Aquos R3, we still don't know the pricing details. And we donβt even know if the Aquos R3 will hit the global market. Since we do not know its official price, we still cannot say which of these phones offers the best value for money. If the price is similar, it will be a very difficult battle. For multimedia enthusiasts and gamers, the Sharp Aquos R3 is a more interesting device due to its excellent display. The only advantages of the Meizu 16s are its largest battery and more storage space in the most expensive configuration, but there is no micro SD slot (unlike Aquos R3). Xiaomi Mi 9 looks like the most complete with fast wireless charging technology and amazing camera capabilities, but only for people who care about these features.
