Sony today presented the new Xperia 5, with which the company wants to recover its popular line of smartphones “Compact” compact of yesteryear.
With a 6.1 ”screen, it is not exactly a small smartphone but, thanks to the elongated aspect ratio, it fits“ in the palm of your hand ”as Sony promises.
The new Xperia 5 has a 6.1 ″ FHD + screen with the same 21: 9 CinemaWide aspect ratio that we already saw on the Xperia 1, which means that it is a fairly tall and narrow phone considering the diagonal of the screen.
This also makes it very easy to grip and operate with one hand, especially when compared to other flagships.
Sony has equipped the Xperia 5 with stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, which offers a true cinematic experience on the large 21: 9 screen.
The Sony Xperia 5 is equipped with the (almost) latest high-end Snapdragon 855 processor, 6 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of storage and a 3,140 mAh battery.
In addition, Sony has a pleasant surprise as it includes full support for wireless use of the DualShock 4 gamepad natively.
This phone has a triple camera, just like the Xperia 1, which is located in the upper left corner instead of in the center. The three options offered are: wide angle, regular and telephoto.
Sony boasts a new BIONZ X algorithm, which allows the Xperia 1 Eye camera to focus super precisely, super fast and even maintain that focus while taking a burst photo of 10 frames per second.
The three sensors have a resolution of 12 MP ,. The main camera features a 1 / 2.6 ”Exmor RS sensor and a 26mm lens with f / 1.6 aperture and optical stabilization. The 2X telephoto camera has a 1 / 3.4 ”size and a f / 2.4 aperture lens with optical stabilization, and the ultra wide angle camera has a 1 / 3.4” size and an f / 2.4 lens that covers 135 degrees.
As for the selfie camera, it has a 1/4 ”8 megapixel sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture lens.
In the Xperia 5 camera application there are a lot of tools. In addition to a selfie mode with adjustable sliders that thin the cheeks and enlarge the eyes, you will find a bokeh option, another object tracking and an automatic capture function that captures an image when it detects a smile.
Fans of recording video will also enjoy the new Cinema Pro function, which includes color management presets and allows recording in 4K HDR in 21: 9 format. The socket is stabilized by a hybrid optical and digital stabilization system.
The Sony Xperia 5 will go on sale in October in black, blue, white and magenta, but we still don't know the price in Spain.
