The first day of IFA starts strong. Sony has been this time the first to kick off with the Sony Xperia 5, the renewal of the Xperia 1 that in addition to renewing part of the design of the device, arrives with a screen size significantly smaller than that of its predecessor. On the other hand, the technical section does not suffer any type of alteration, this being the same as that of the Xperia 1. Nor is the photographic section, which this time again replicates the benefits seen with the first generation.

More compact than the Sony Xperia 1
The main and more than noticeable difference between the Sony Xperia 1 and the Xperia 5 is the size, a size that does not exceed 16 centimeters high and 7 centimeters wide thanks to the 6.1 inch screen which integrates the terminal, a screen that is accompanied by a 21: 9 format more typical of cinema screens than smartphones. The resolution, yes, switch from 4K to Full HD +, a resolution more than acceptable for a panel of no more than 6.1 inches. Luckily, we continue to maintain OLED technology.
Another difference with respect to its counterpart is based on the design of the rear. Now the triple camera passes to be located on one of the sides, just like the fingerprint sensor, which is again placed on the right side to improve grip against a traditional sensor.
Few new hardware
The new Sony terminal does not arrive as a renewal of the Sony Xperia 1, but as a Compact or Lite version of the latter, but really Lite. TO gross mode, the phone has the same characteristics as its counterpart: Snapdragon 855 processor (nothing 855+), 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
The rest of the features come to mimic the rest of the high-end phones of 2019. NFC, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS compatible with all satellites and so on. In terms of autonomy, the Sony Xperia 5 has a module 3,140 mAh compatible with Sony's fast charging system.
The triple camera as the undisputed protagonist
Sony wanted to replicate the movement that premiered with the Xperia 1 by integrating the same triple camera as the model presented months ago. A triple camera made up of three independent sensors of 12 megapixels each and focal aperture f / 1.6, f / 2.4 and f / 2.4.
If we talk about lenses, the second and third sensors make use of telephoto and wide-angle lenses. As for the front camera, Sony has not given details of the type of sensor used, although everything indicates that we will find the same 8 megapixel camera and focal aperture f / 2.0 that the Xperia 1 integrated.
Price and availability of the Sony Xperia 5 in Spain
The company has announced that the Xperia 5 will begin to be available from next month in many European countries. Unfortunately, the starting price has not been provided, which could start at 749 euros according to our estimates.
