The death of a beloved character in an anime is always difficult, but certain matches are extremely difficult for fans, who may never get over them. The following list brings together purposes that will be remembered forever.

1. Portgas D. Ace – One Piece

One of the brothers of protagonist Monkey D. Luffy certainly missed him. During the battle that Whitebeard's crew fought against the navy to prevent their execution, Ace had his death decreed by saving his brother from Akainu's fatal punch. A sad and iconic death from the anime world that catches Luffy and the fans in full.

The former killer who became a teacher of a group of maladjusted students certainly had a death that marked the anime world. Even though the agreement was that the class would kill him before he blew up the earth as he had done with half the moon, the truth came out and showed that this was not the case. This makes your end even sadder.

Army intelligence chief Amestris was a devoted husband and father. In trying to do the right thing, and putting justice first, Hughes ended up in the clutches of Envy, one of the villains created by Father, the main antagonist in history. His death took many fans by surprise, especially due to his charisma.

4. Jiraiya – Naruto

Sennin Jiraiya was one of anime's comic reliefs, thanks to his sense of humor and his success as an adult book writer. Crossing the path of Pain, the master ends up unable to win the conflict and ends up dying before realizing his dream of seeing Naruto become Hokage. Its end certainly made many people sad.

The classic studio film Ghibli also features one of the saddest deaths in anime history. Setsuko and his brother Sect try to survive in the midst of a cruel world. But one day, after eating only a piece of melon, the girl falls asleep and ends up not resisting the hunger and weakness she was feeling, dying.

The famous anime that involves a book that kills anyone whose name is written on it also brings a sad death despite its premise. L, a detective with unique abilities, ends up in direct combat with the protagonist who holds the tome. However, at the end of the series the character dies in a surprising way.

7. Tatsumi – Akame Ga Kill

This is a violent and deadly anime, but the end of its protagonist is one of the saddest moments in history. Young Tatsumi is an honorable warrior, and wishes to fight the corruption of the world. And although he can accomplish great things during his saga, during his last conflict he ends up not resisting and dies.

Resulting from the relationship between Tomoya and Nagisa, Ushio ends up suffering from a mysterious disease. Despite her parents' efforts to save her, the girl cannot overcome the conditions of her health, and ends up dying in her father's arms. One of the saddest moments in anime history.

This anime marked several generations of fans, and Shaka's death stirred many. The virgin house character wages a striking battle with his former friends and now rivals, so he must die in order for them to fulfill their goal. Its end marks an important moment in the anime, as well as reaching fans in full.

One of the top names in Jojo's second season, Caesar Zeppeli battled alongside Joseph Joestar to stop the powerful trio of pillar men. However, he was lured into a trap and killed by Wammu, leaving his comrade and anime fans very sad and angry at his death.
