Steve Dowling let Apple after 16 years. During the first 10 years in the company he was in charge of corporate public relations and then took the position of communications director. In an email sent to the entire company, he explained:
"After 16 years in Apple, countless keynotes, product launches and the occasional public relations crisis, I have decided that it is time to leave this incredible company. It's something that has been in my head for a good time. During the last cycle of product launches the idea settled even more and the team is working better than ever, so it's my time. "
Apple has published a statement about Dowling's departure:
"Steve Dowling has dedicated 16 years of his life to Apple and has contributed to this company at all levels in many of its most significant moments. From the first iPhone and the App Store to the Appel watch and the AirPods. It has helped tell our story and share our values with the world. After another successful product launch, he has decided to leave us to spend time with his family.
He will leave a tremendous legacy that will be present in the company for many years. We are grateful for everything you have given to Apple and we wish him the best. "
Phil Schiller, marketing director, will temporarily take up his position until they find a replacement.
