What a rumor! According to the famous filter Roland Quandt – better known as @rquandt in Twitter – Qualcomm would already be well cooked at Snapdragon 855.
In other words, the future most powerful processor of the American firm would be in mass production since last June.
Hopefully a chipset with 7 nanometer architecture. In addition, it would mean a 40% increase in power and 37% more efficiency compared to current SoCs with 10nm technology.
Xiaomi would be the first to use it
But this does not end here. There is still more.
It turns out that this same filter also discovered a Xiaomi terminal leaked by Geekbench. The capture above these lines is a sample of this.
There you can see how on the top left it is identified as Xiaomi SDM855 for arm64. With about "SDM855" is understood to be the same Qualcomm Snpadragon 855.
However, there are several points that cast doubt on this possibility.
To start, in the section Single-core he smartphone achieved 1,784 points while in the Multi-core climbed to 6,359. In other words, are lower numbers than the current Snapdragon 845.
In addition, the processor was identified as Snapdragon 835. Even those scores are more similar to the latter mentioned than any other chipset of the American brand.
As for Xiaomi's mysterious mobile itself, apart from its eight-core 1.9GHz processor; we also highlight the presence of Android 8.1 Oreo and 6GB of RAM.
Two leading processors in 2019?
Another aspect that puts more uncertainty is that next year we could see two top-of-the-range processors from Qualcomm.
That is, the manufacturer would resume an old custom. In the first half of the year we would have the Snapdragon 855 as the most top.
While in the second part of 2019 another chipset will be present to incorporate all the news related to 5G connectivity at the time.
That is, the Snapdragon 855 would have 5G. Moreover, the NR mmWave and Sub-6 GHz RF modules are emerging as serious candidates to integrate.
At least that we deduce considering that Qualcomm announced that the new smartphones They will have 5G communication functions in the first half of 2019.
The fundamental question is based on the fact that as the manufacturer makes many advances in connectivity and others, it is not ruled out to have the presentation of other technologies. Then, to implement them, a new SoC will have to be announced.
