If you've ever watched Stranger Things – one of Netflix's most revered series – you've certainly had contact with RPG, the game where they play Demogorgon. Although it works a little differently and can have many themes, there is no shortage of mobile RPG games, be it Android or iPhone.
In addition to the classic medieval fantasy RPGs, these mobile RPG games can be science fiction and even more action-oriented. Even famous franchises like Star Wars, Pokémon and the heroes of Marvel are present in the games for Android and iPhone.
Did you ever go to the Play Store (or App Store) and get lost amid so many options? Not sure which game to download first?
Then you need to check out our complete list of the top 10 RPG games for Android phones – which you can play on Android emulators for weak PC – and iPhone!
1. Pokémon Masters
Newly released for mobile phones, Pokémon Masters also hits deep into the nostalgia of those who played pocket monster games. Unlike Pokemon GO, this time you don't have to leave home to become a master.
Also, the catch here is not to collect the Pokémon, but the iconic trainers of the series. Remember the "flirty" Brock and Misty, gym leaders who accompanied Ash in the drawing? They will also be your companions in Pokémon Masters.
The battles look more like the original game, with a few differences: this time, fights are 3 in 3 and actions are available after accumulating energy.
To play Pokémon Masters, visit its page on Google Play or App Store!
2. Shin Megami Tensei Dx2: Liberators
Despite the kilometer name, Shin Megami Tensei Dx2: Liberators is for those who prefer more realistic monsters than the friendly Pokémon. Called “demons,” the monsters you capture in the app are references to mythologies from around the world, whether Egyptian, Greek, Sumerian or Aztec, among many others.
Battles are in turns, using a team of monsters that summoned, captured or merged. The story follows the routine of a squad that, through the cell phone, invokes the monstrosities to protect the world from a rival team.
The great highlight of the game is the possibility of seeing the monsters by augmented reality. But do not think this is another Pokémon GO: the use of technology is only aesthetic and you can play comfortably from your couch.
Shin Megami Tensei Dx2: Liberators is available for Android and iPhone.
3. Star Wars: Galaxy of heroes
Are you preparing for the ninth episode in theaters? How about getting started playing Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes? The game features a robust collection of characters from the most popular movie franchise on the planet.
No matter your favorite movie, Galaxy of Heroes features characters from all eras, including those that only appeared in the animations. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Rey, Poe, Ahsoka Tano or Count Dooku, all of them can be recruited and played in turn battles.
Another highlight is the duel between spacecraft, another hallmark of George Lucas films. Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is available on Android or iPhone.
4 Marvel Strike force
Similar to Galaxy of Heroes, Marvel Strike Force has similar mechanics, but with comic book and movie heroes. Battles are also in turns, in a totally original storyline in which you must gather heroes and villains to defend Earth from a multidimensional invasion.
It is important to remember that the games of Marvel do not have the same restrictions as cinema. That is, you can use characters from the X-Men, the Reverse Spider, and the Fantastic Four alongside the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, for example.
There are other role-playing games with heroes – like the Marvel Future Fight – but, in my opinion, Force Strike is ideally placed on this list of the best mobile role-playing games.
Meet Marvel Strike Force on your Android or iPhone phone.
5. Warriors of Waterdeep
Inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons table RPGs – the same as the Stranger Things kids play in the series – you'll be able to collect the franchise's medieval fantasy heroes.
Dwarf warriors, forest-protecting elves, and barbarian half-orcs can join your team to explore dungeons for treasure. Legendary weapons, better equipment for your team, and reliable healing potions are all items in the title.
Warriors of Waterdeep has been released for Android or iOS phones.
6. Fire Emblem Heroes
Another popular franchise for Nintendo games, Fire Emblem Heroes is the most profitable title. Although not as strong a name as Mario and Zelda, the medieval fantasy atmosphere, charismatic characters and solid gameplay have made Fire Emblem Heroes a hit since its release.
Using heroes of the series' games – released on the company's consoles and laptops – you'll have to battle an original story and a variety of challenging events, as well as battles against other players. Fire Emblem Heroes is easily Nintendo's most complete game and one of the best mobile role-playing games.
If you're looking for a strategic mobile RPG, download Fire Emblem Heroes on your Android or iPhone as fast as possible!
7. Summoners War: Sky Arena
We can consider Summoners War as a "Pokémon" for mobile phones. Of course, the title has its own charm and is one of the most successful considering there are professional championships in the game.
As the owner of a magical island, you can summon various creatures and train them to free the world from great evil and… put them up against other players' teams. Summoners War fights are turn-based and have beautiful effects and graphics, while not requiring much from your smartphone.

8. The Elder Scrolls: Blades
Who also plays on PC certainly knows the series The Elder Scrolls. Known by the world famous Skyrim, the series is featured on Blades phones, an adventure made just for playing on the smartphone or on Nintendo Switch.
Played in the first person, you experience similar matches to what you see in the series, while following an original story. If you miss Skyrim but don't want to waste hours at your computer, The Elder Scrolls: Blades may be a good alternative.
The title is available for download from the Google Play or App Store.
9. Battle Souls
Also with a more traditional medieval fantasy feel, Battle Souls brings a realistic look, compared to most of the best mobile role-playing games. With a team of four warriors with diverse abilities, battles take place in turns.
In addition to collecting fighters, you also look for equipment to improve your skills. You decide which paths to take on maps, as well as which battles to face, at least most of the time.
Battle Souls can be downloaded on Android or iPhone.
10. Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
We couldn't make a list of the best mobile role-playing games without mentioning a game from the Final Fantasy franchise, one of the most traditional. Although classic games are available, Brave Exvius is the most popular, so much so that even pop stars like Ariana Grande and Katy Perry have become characters in the game.
Did you imagine seeing classic figures from games like Terra, Cloud Strife and Cecil with the singers? We bet not, but they are there. With an original script – and a continuation on the way! -, the game puts you in the role of three original characters who summon warriors to save the crystals that keep the world in balance.
