WhatsApp is testing under new ways to make your application more secure. The latest addition in this matter to your version of Android is fingerprint lock, a feature that is already being tested in beta.
As WabetaInfo reports, WhatsApp was working on an option to unlock the application exclusively using your fingerprint. Formerly known as Authentication or Screen Lock, this new feature can be activated from the Settings menu in the Privacy section found in the Account submenu. Keep in mind that you will still be able to reply your messages from the notification bar, since the application will only ask you for this unlocking method when you try to open it. Still, continue to provide an extra protection barrier to your messages.
The new security option lets you choose how often you want the application to be blocked: immediately after its closure, after 1 minute, after half an hour, etc.
At the moment the fingerprint lock is available exclusively in WhatsApp Beta, requiring version 2.19.221 or higher. If everything goes well during these tests, this feature will reach the final version of the Android program in the coming weeks.
