Asus ROG Phone II went on sale in Poland today. This is the most efficient Android smartphone on the market. I will say more – it's so fast that I don't fully understand who really needs it.
It is not, however, that this is a matter of this particular smartphone. I just don't quite understand the phenomenon of phones for players, because few titles are adapted to the best devices, and a small part of them allows you to change the graphic settings of the game. As a result of this situation, the vast majority of games look and work the same on the device for PLN 1,500, 3,000 and 4,000.
Asus ROG Phone II is a high-end specification.
Of course, the best components mean that the smartphone will work smoothly not only now, but also for the next years. And in the case of Asus ROG Phone II it really should be because its heart is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chip with a clock frequency of up to 2.96 GHz, which is part of the Adreno 640 graphics chip. It works with a maximum of 12 GB RAM LPDDR4X and 1 TB UFS 3.0 internal memory. The whole is cooled by a cooler equipped with a steam chamber and a fan, thanks to which the smartphone retains its full performance for longer.
What's more, this performance may be able to largely be used, because the smartphone is equipped with a great display. It is a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels supporting a 10-bit color palette and HDR. Its response time is 1 ms, and the color reproduction is Delta-E <1. The most important, however, is that its refresh rate is 120 Hz, so selected games will allow a smoothness of 120 frames per second.
Another advantage of this smartphone is the huge battery. The manufacturer decided to use cells with a capacity of 6000 mAh sufficient for over a day requiring work or a few hours of gaming session. If the energy runs out too soon, you won't have to stop the game because the smartphone has a side charging socket that doesn't force the user to change the device's grip. Asus ROG Phone II also supports fast 30W ROG HyperCharge charging, necessary for such large cells.
There were also interesting additions here.
One of them is AirTrigger II technology, i.e. feedback vibrations, which are supposed to provide similar sensations to console controllers. Next to the side charging socket is also a headphone output, which makes it easier to hold the smartphone while playing. And if you don't use headphones, you'll love the two stereo speakers that make a huge impression.
The first ROG Phone was famous not only for the specifications, but also for compatible accessories, and in this case it is similar. These include docking stations using wired or wireless technology and a modular pad called ROG Kunai, which consists of three components – a bumper, controllers and a handle. Two-piece Kunai controllers can be attached to the holder to create an independent gamepad or in conjunction with the bumper add physical buttons directly to the smartphone
Asus ROG Phone II is not a cheap device.
Advance sale of this model has just started in the Asus online store, where you have to pay 3999 PLN for it. Shipping of smartphones will start on September 20. Soon, a more energíaful version of the smartphone will be available, equipped with 1 TB instead of 512 GB of UFS 3.0 memory and faster LTE connectivity. Its price is 5499 PLN. In my opinion, these additions are not worth the price, so if I were to buy a new Asus smartphone, I would opt for its cheaper option for almost four thousand zlotys.
